Toronto (Sept 12, 2009) – Selected to the Toronto International Film Festival’s (TIFF) inaugural City to City program, Phobidilia kicks off with a world premiere Monday, Sept. 14 at 6 PM, Varsity 2.. Directed by fraternal filmmaking team Yoav and Doron Paz, the film marks its world premiere at TIFF in a spotlight on films from Tel Aviv.
After suffering an emotional breakdown in a public place, a young man vows never to leave his apartment. He quickly discovers that in today’s world, all his needs can be easily met: sex via the internet, food by telephone delivery, and entertainment by television. Four years later, his idyllic existence comes under attack when Daniela, a free spirited girl comes into his life, while Grumps, the building’s real estate agent, informs him that the apartment is about to be sold. Refusing to leave his apartment, the young man vows to fight till the bitter end.
